How did your trip up Googs in August go? Planning to go there Monday week.

Mick,
We were on the track 16th August, travelled north to south. There had been plenty of rain, so sand was firm. Approaches were good, descents a little rutted out, but pretty good, I would say due to the recent rains. With the warmer weather, the sand should soften up.
Spent 2 nights at Mt Finke and 2 at Goog's Lake. The lake is very pretty, I would have liked to spend more time there.
Plenty of bird life and there were flowers out and lots of trees and bushes budding up then.
There are some pics on my profile, if you wish to see more let me know and I will direct you elsewhere.
The photo below was taken on the track.

Twinkles,
didn't make it. We ran short of time opting to spend that bit extra on the quads exploring in
Rudall River. Unfortunately we had to get our Arctic cousins (those damn Canadians) back for their flights.
I think Russ has covered the track conditions really
well. Let us know how you go out there. I'm doing a bit of south west NSW and the
Border track at the end of the month. I think Googs from the west (via Lois rocks) and a trip out to Jellabina Rocks may be on the agenda for next year.
Tell me, did you go with the Cepek FC II's? I've just fitted 4 myself.
Mick.

Yes I went for the Cepeks. So far, on road, seem fine. Much, much quieter than the Procomp muddies I had on.
Ive done the
Border track. Got bogged on first big
hill. Busy letting tyres down even further, realised I was still in 2wd. After that no problems.

Mick,
Might soud a bit stupid, but it is just north of
Wudinna. There are some good spots here, but cant (not suppose to)
camp here.
There are a couple of
good camp spots north of
Minnipa though which are on the pics.

Russ,
I'm
Mick, he's Twinkles....unless his name is Michael as
well and I don't know that (and seeing he's a fellow crow-eater, such as yourself, that could be possible). Nice 100 you've got there by the way.
Cheers.
Mick (
O) - Vic.
(P.S. I spent a lot of time in
Renmark and
Monash as a youth (
Mildura boy) so I'm a closet crow eater.....Cheers)

Hey,
I know that those who answered probably wont see this but may be you will.
My mate has decided to go the way as shown in the
pic to get over his tyre problem. Thought that you may be interested.

Russ I gotta get me some of those! What a ripper. Where in the hell does he use them? They'd be fantastic on sand. Bet they're pricey tho.
Cheers
Mick
